The design idea is awesome, however, there are few areas I thought they could have paid attention to.
Academic discipline. This is presented on the date, you have a mixed text styling (capitalisation).
Alignment of words is not following design principles. Check vertical alignment of word to word and words to their border containers(check venue and dates).
Content blending. The images are looking that much separated from the background, too much elevation indicated by the images.
Alignment of images. The first ok mage is not equally spaced horizontally if we compare it to the last image.
The last one is on colour principle. You have a logo whose colours are not presented in the design. This is making it appearing as a foreign object in the whole design, I would suggest your design to marry some colours from your logo.
