Procurement Engineer
Job Summary
A Procurement Engineer is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and procuring materials, components, and services required for engineering projects or manufacturing operations. They collaborate closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure purchased items meet technical specifications, quality standards, and project timelines. The role involves identifying suppliers, conducting technical assessments, analyzing costs, negotiating contracts, and optimizing the continuous supply chain. Procurement Engineers work to reduce costs, improve supplier performance, and mitigate risks while maintaining strong relationships with vendors and ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
Technical discussions with the customer and end user
Technical clarifications to customers’ queries
Responsible for purchasing technical goods, equipment, and services for the client’s activities.
Assist with the drafting of the Technical Proposal documentation
Issue requests for quotation and purchase orders
Lead the bidding for jobs and ensure deadlines are met.
Recognize sales opportunities and develop new accounts with key customers
Maintain a high standard of professionalism with senior management and clients
Take up project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements, monitoring progress, and resolving problems
Identify and create a supplier’s datasheet for future reference.
Engage clients regularly to assess their needs and project requirements.
Evaluate and report risks and outcomes to appropriate management channels.
Any other duties assigned by the General Manager
Qualification and Experience
HND/B. Sc in electrical or mechanical engineering
1-2 years of relevant experience in a related field.
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint presentations
Skills
Ability to read, interpret, and define technical data sheets
Technical knowledge of the materials and equipment being sourced
Proficiency in data analysis tools, eg. Advanced Excel
Strong negotiation Skills
Problem-solving skills
Disciplined
