Job Description
A reputable insurance firm is seeking a dynamic and strategic Head of Business Development to join its leadership team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in driving organizational growth by identifying new business opportunities, forging strategic partnerships, expanding into new markets, and developing long-term growth strategies.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the development of Marketing Business Development strategies/business plans and implementing them to achieve targeted objectives.
Develop and lead the Marketing & Business Development Team to implement new business initiatives in line with the overall business strategy.
Lead and identify new marketing opportunities for products and services, ensuring that resources are focused on the best opportunities.
Develop short and long-term marketing and customer service standards for the Unit and monitor/evaluate the same to ensure compliance.
Responsible for the formulation of policies, standard operating procedures, work plan, and other support systems for the Business Development Unit.
Provide technical expertise/advice to the Heads of Departments/Branches/Units in their business operations and work closely to explore ways and other interventions to expand their operations to become more competitive and viable.
Maintain a visible and active presence in the local insurance market to establish new relationships and support existing relationships to enhance acquisition and retention of clientele/customers.
Maintain good working relationships with Sales Teams/Agents/vendors/marketing institutions, regulatory agencies, and other external stakeholders to facilitate sales activities in the Business Development Unit.
Provide vital market intelligence information to Line Managers to assist them in the costing of products to have a sound basis for achieving the right and competitive pricing, and react to changes in the business environment.
Prepare and submit Client satisfaction survey reports and reports on special events such as promotions, sponsorships, trade shows, etc, for management decision making.
Conduct performance appraisal, provide input for career development, and recommend performance incentives for subordinate staff.
Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Marketing, Public Relations, or Communication Studies, or related field.
Membership of a recognized professional insurance body.
Eight (8) years’ work experience with three (3) years at a management level.
Extensive knowledge and understanding of effective communication management techniques and principles.
Excellent analytical, networking/influencing, and sound decision-making skills
Excellent analytical skills with sound decision-making.
Good managerial, coaching, and mentoring skills.
