Job Summary

The Credit Officer will be responsible for evaluating, processing, and managing loan applications, ensuring compliance with credit policies, and maintaining strong relationships with clients. This role requires analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent customer service to assess and manage credit risks effectively.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

Loan Application Management:

  • Receive and review loan applications, verifying the accuracy and completeness of information provided

  • Conduct creditworthiness assessments by analyzing financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant data.


Credit Analysis and Approval:

  • Evaluate clients' repayment capacities and recommend appropriate loan terms.

  • Prepare credit proposals and submit them for approval in line with company policies.


Client Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing guidance on loan options and repayment plans.

  • Respond promptly to client inquiries and address any concerns or issues.


Loan Monitoring and Recovery:

  • Monitor loan accounts to ensure timely repayments and compliance with loan terms.

  • Follow up on overdue accounts and initiate recovery actions as necessary.


Risk Management and Compliance:

  • Ensure all loan approvals and disbursements align with the company’s credit policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Identify potential credit risks and recommend mitigation strategies.


Reporting and Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all loan applications, approvals, and repayments.

  • Prepare periodic reports on loan performance and credit risk analysis for management review.


Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.

  • Proven experience as a Credit Officer or in a similar role.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.

  • Familiarity with credit analysis tools and techniques.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and financial software applications

  • Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.


Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of local credit regulations and market trends.

  • Experience working in the microfinance, banking, or financial services sector.
