Job Title: Head, Corporate Banking
Reports to: Executive Director
Location: Ghana
Direct Reports: Relationship Management Teams
Job Purpose
Provides strategic leadership, direction, and management of the Bank’s corporate banking business. Responsible for driving growth in the corporate segment by deepening client relationships, originating new business, enhancing profitability, and ensuring superior service delivery, while maintaining sound risk and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Business Growth
• Develop and execute the Corporate Banking strategy aligned with the Bank’s overall objectives.
• Grow the corporate loan portfolio, deposits, trade finance, and fee-based income.
• Identify new business opportunities across key industries and sectors to expand market share.
• Build and maintain strategic partnerships with corporates, multinationals, public institutions, and development partners.
Client Relationship Management
• Drive acquisition and retention of top-tier corporate clients.
• Oversee relationship managers to ensure delivery of tailored financial solutions.
• Ensure a customer-centric approach that enhances client satisfaction and loyalty.
• Leverage cross-selling opportunities across products (transaction banking, treasury, investment banking, etc.).
Risk Management & Compliance
• Ensure compliance with credit risk policies, regulatory requirements, and governance frameworks.
• Monitor portfolio quality to minimize non-performing loans and credit losses.
• Work closely with Risk, Legal, and Compliance units to maintain a strong risk culture.
Product Development & Innovation
• Collaborate with Product and Digital teams to develop innovative corporate solutions (e.g., cash management, trade finance, structured finance).
• Drive adoption of digital platforms for efficiency and convenience in corporate transactions.
Leadership & People Management
• Provide effective leadership and direction to the Corporate Banking team.
• Coach, mentor, and build high-performing relationship management teams.
• Foster a culture of accountability, integrity, and performance excellence.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
• Growth in corporate loan book, deposits, and trade finance volumes.
• Contribution of Corporate Banking to overall Bank profitability.
• Portfolio quality (low NPL ratio).
• Customer satisfaction and retention rates.
• Achievement of cross-sell and wallet share targets.
• Staff engagement and performance metrics.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Education & Professional Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
• Master’s degree and/or professional certification (ACIB, CFA, ACCA, etc.) preferred.
Experience
• Minimum 12–15 years’ banking experience with at least 7 years in senior corporate banking leadership roles. •Strong track record in credit structuring, relationship management, and portfolio growth.
• Demonstrated success in managing large and complex client relationships.
Skills & Competencies
• Strong commercial acumen and deal origination skills.
• Excellent credit analysis, structuring, and negotiation skills.
• Deep understanding of corporate banking products and markets.
• Strong leadership, people management, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
• Sound knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements.
