Job Summary

The Pharmacist is responsible for preparing, dispensing, and reviewing prescription medications to ensure safe and effective patient care. This role involves providing expert advice on drug therapies, monitoring for potential interactions or contraindications, and promoting optimal medication use. The Pharmacist collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support patient treatment plans, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain accurate pharmaceutical records.


Job Description/Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Source pharmaceutical products from manufacturers and suppliers to maintain an adequate inventory.

  • Monitor inventory levels, expiration dates, and stock rotations to minimize wastage and ensure product quality

  • Implement inventory control strategies to optimize stock levels and prevent shortages.

  • Ensure all pharmaceutical products meet regulatory and quality standards set by relevant authorities.

  • Maintain accurate records of product documentation, batch numbers, and certificates of analysis.

  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies to stay up to date on regulatory changes and compliance requirements.

  • Plan and manage the distribution process, including order processing, packaging, labeling, and shipping.

  • Collaborate with logistics partners to ensure the timely, accurate delivery of products to customers.

  • Address any distribution-related issues such as delays, damages, or discrepancies.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with healthcare institutions, retail pharmacies, and other customers.

  • Respond promptly to inquiries and resolve any product-related concerns or issues.

  • Collaborate with customers to understand their needs and provide appropriate product recommendations.

  • Maintain detailed records of transactions, orders, and inventory levels using appropriate software systems.

  • Generate regular reports on sales, inventory turnover, and product performance.

  • Analyze data to identify trends and opportunities for process improvement.

  • Work closely with procurement teams, warehouse staff, and logistics personnel to ensure seamless operations

  • Provide guidance and training to support staff on pharmaceutical products, storage, and handling.

  • Stay updated with advancements in pharmaceuticals, regulations, and industry trends.

  • Participate in relevant training programs, workshops, and conferences to enhance knowledge and skills.

  • Report to Senior Medical Management and Ownership.


Qualification

  • A degree in Pharmacy (Pharm.D. or B.Pharm) from an accredited Ghanaian institution.

  • Current registration as a pharmacist with the Ghana Pharmacy Council.

  • Previous work experience as a wholesale pharmacist.

  • Prior experience in pharmaceutical distribution, inventory management, or related roles is preferred.

  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical regulations, quality standards, and compliance requirements.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for building relationships with customers and suppliers.

  • Proficiency in using relevant software for inventory management and record-keeping.

  • Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and a proactive approach to challenges.

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role (wholesale experience).
