Mechanical Technician-Process Plant

ROLE

The Mechanical Technician - Process Plant reports to the Mechanical Supervisor and is accountable for executing tasked plant mechanical maintenance work items. This position will execute work tasks falling in day and night shift, in a safe and compliant manner as instructed refurbishment, later maintenance, of the Processing Plant. The work is to be executed in accordance with detailed tasking in accordance with applicable Government of Ghana and AGAG safety and environmental requirements


Key Accountabilities

  • Assess risks for all tasks and ensure they are controlled before and during task execution.

  • Report all incidents and ensure they have been investigated and corrective actions completed on time.

  • Act on all corrective actions assigned to you or under your jurisdiction and ensure timely completion.

  • Adhere to site’s Environmental Management Plan.

  • Work compliantly with the requirement of Government of Ghana Agencies, environmental, health & safety legislation and AGAG regulation.

  • Accept personal responsibility for his own health and safety and that of every mine worker affected by his work.

  • Attend training, development and performance improvement training as required.

  • Execute daily pre-start checks of equipment/tools prior to leaving workshop. Escalate and report any anomalies.

  • Assess all equipment and tooling required for completion of the tasked planned, create checklist and transport all tools necessary for task completion.

  • Provide data and information to support the Maintenance Planner to close out work orders in SAP on completion of the tasked work for all process plant and equipment refurbishment and maintenance activities.

  • Stop equipment operation if there exists a high risk or unsafe to be used.

  • Execute refurbishment and maintenance work items as tasked compliant and in accordance with all relevant regulations from Government of Ghana and AGAG.

Qualification, Experience And Technical Competencies


Qualification

  • Minimum of Technician part II Certificate, City and Guilds certificate part II or equivalent OR Associate degree or technical diploma in Engineering Technology or related field.

Experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in mechanical technical roles, preferably in the mining industry.

People and Technical Competencies

  • Technical proficiency in equipment and systems

  • Troubleshooting and repair

  • Attention to detail

  • Communication and teamwork.

Competency Level

  • Skilled technician capable of maintaining and repairing equipment

  • Excellent knowledge in drawing interpretations, installations, maintenance, and repairs.

  • Familiarity with the Ghana Minerals and Mining (Health Safety and Technical) Regulation

  • Fully literate and numerate.

  • Consistent with the company values.

  • Ability to multitask.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work under Minimum supervision.

  • Accurate and high-quality hands-on making skills. Engineering fabrication and constructional skills from engineering drawings or sketches.

  • Attributes Self-motivated.

  • Excellent procedure discipline

  • Possess all the troubleshooting, diagnosing and repair capabilities of a highly skilled technician involving, pumps, gearboxes, mills, crushers, agitators, and thickener
