We are committed to excellence in every aspect of our operations, from aquaculture to processing. We are seeking a skilled and reliable Management Accountant. 


A Brief Overview Of The Role

The Management Accountant will provide accurate and timely financial and management information to support decision-making in Tropo Farms’ aquaculture operations. This role will focus on cost monitoring, production efficiency, and financial analysis to ensure profitability, regulatory compliance, and sustainable growth of the business.


 Duties And Responsibilities

Financial Planning & Analysis

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts with analysis of farm production, sales, and operational performance.

• Monitor financial performance against budgets, forecasts, and production targets (e.g., feed conversion ratio, biomass yield, harvest output).

• Support the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial planning for aquaculture, processing, and distribution activities.

• Analyze cost structures (e.g., feed, labor, energy, logistics) and recommend opportunities for cost savings and efficiency.


Reporting

• Produce variance analysis reports with commentary on key aquaculture KPIs such as feed costs, mortality rates, pond/cage productivity, and processing yields.

• Develop financial dashboards for management to monitor performance trends.

• Provide insights into profitability across different product lines, customer channels, and geographic markets.


Financial Control

• Ensure compliance with Tropo Farms’ financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.

• Reconcile inventory of feed, fish stock (juveniles, grow-out, harvest), and inputs against financial records.

• Support audit processes and provide necessary documentation to auditors and regulators.

• Assist in the design and improvement of financial systems, including integration of farm production data with accounting systems.


Operational Support

• Partner with farm, processing, logistics, and sales managers to provide financial insights and guidance.

• Monitor the cost of production per kilogram of fish, ensuring competitiveness in the market.

• Support investment appraisals for new projects, expansion initiatives, and capital expenditures.

• Analyze distribution and cold chain costs to ensure product quality and profitability.


Compliance & Governance

• Ensure compliance with tax regulations, statutory reporting, and local accounting standards.

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial and management records.

• Support reporting to regulators (EPA, FDA, Fisheries Commission) where financial data is required.


 Qualification

What specific knowledge/experience/qualifications are required for this role


Experience

Essential

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret operational and financial data.

• High attention to detail and accuracy.

• Ability to present financial and performance information clearly to non-financial managers.

• Knowledge of aquaculture/agribusiness costing and performance metrics (advantageous).

• Strong organizational and time management skills.

• Proficiency in [ERP/Accounting Software – e.g., SAP] and advanced MS Excel.


Preferred Qualification

Essential

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

• Professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ICA, CPA) or part-qualified preferred.

• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in management accounting, financial analysis, or related roles.

• Experience in agribusiness, aquaculture, fisheries, food processing, or FMCG will be a strong advantage.

• Accuracy and timeliness of management reports.

• Insightful analysis and actionable recommendations to improve efficiency.

• Contribution to cost reduction and profitability improvements.

• Compliance with statutory, tax, and audit requirements.

• Effective collaboration with operational teams to enhance financial discipline.
